Uploads and downloads up to twice as fast

Your rushes, masters and exports now leave and arrive faster on misi.link. We measured, looked for where time was being lost, and changed the way files travel.

Where the time was being lost

Your files are stored in Paris, in object storage that limits the speed of each connection. With a single connection, a fiber line is therefore left half empty. The file isn't the problem: it's the single "pipe" that slows everything down.

What changes when you upload

Your file is split into 16 MB chunks, sent at the same time. misi.link starts with 4 chunks at once, then moves up to 6 and 8 as long as speed keeps increasing, and scales back if your connection struggles. On our test fiber line, upload speed goes from about 20 to 33 MB/s: up to 65% faster. On a phone, misi.link stays cautious so as not to interrupt your upload.

What changes when you download

A large file no longer arrives over a single connection but in 8 chunks downloaded at the same time, then reassembled on your disk. The result: up to twice as fast, sometimes even more. A 3.3 GB master arrives in about 2 minutes on fiber. If the connection drops, only the interrupted chunk is requested again.

Even for encrypted transfers

End-to-end encrypted transfers benefit too: each chunk is decrypted in your browser as soon as it arrives. The key never leaves your computer.

The Drive and albums too

Uploading to the team Drive and to albums now uses up to 8 connections on desktop.

Good to know

  • The gain depends on your connection. With fiber, it is at its maximum; with ADSL or 4G, the line itself remains the limit.
  • Chrome, Edge and Firefox benefit from parallel downloading.
  • Nothing to configure: everything is automatic.
