How long will it take to send your files?
A camera card to offload, a photo shoot to deliver, an edit to hand over: measure the real upload speed of your connection, enter the volume, and know right away how long it will take.
10-second measurement with 4 simultaneous uploads to the Misi.Link server, like a real transfer. The test data is discarded immediately.
What do you want to send?
- Network drop, sleep, closed tab: the upload resumes where it stopped.
- The link is ready from the start: your recipients follow the progress.
Good to know before a big upload
Upload speed matters, not download
Internet boxes mostly advertise their download speed. For sending, the upload speed decides: it is often 2 to 10 times lower, and up to 20 times on ADSL. Hence this test, done in the right direction.
Mbit/s and MB/s: a factor of 8
A byte is 8 bits. 100 Mbit/s is about 12.5 MB per second, or 45 GB per hour. A 128 GB card therefore takes almost 3 hours at 100 Mbit/s.
Copy the card before sending it
On a shoot, first offload the card to two drives with a verified copy, then send from the drive. Never format a card before the recipient has checked the files.
Let it run overnight
For several hundred GB, start the upload in the evening, computer plugged in and sleep turned off. If the connection drops, Misi.Link resumes on its own from the last chunk sent.
